Heritage Trail Community Gardens
All Garden Plots are Reserved for the 2025 Season.

Zionsville Community Garden Plot Details:

The goal of the Zionsville Community Gardens is to provide space to foster horticulture, leisure and community. A requirement of this program is to be a good neighbor to fellow gardeners.

Plot members can reserve plots year to year. We understand with a consistent plot, gardeners can further amend the soil for improved yields and maintenance. Only one plot per household, however, any secondary plots remaining after April 1 of each year can be purchased on a first come, first served basis.

Tentative target date to begin planting is April 1 (weather permitting). You will be contacted by email if the date is changed. If you have any questions, please contact the Zionsville Parks and Recreation Department at parks@zionsville-in.gov or 317-733-2273.

Each plot is reserved for a yearly fee. Plot availability is by first come and we can not guarantee you will receive your requested plot. A $5 spring till is available as an option upon registration prior to 4/1 (till is not available for raised garden beds). November fall till is included for all garden plots unless you decide to opt out.

Zionsville Community Garden Plots are located at:

Heritage Trail Park, 4050 S 875 E

Elm Street Green Park, 165 N Elm Street

Gardener Responsibilities
  • Gardeners are responsible for maintaining their plot (Zionsville Parks and Recreation will contact a plot holder mid-June to remedy any unkempt plots. If unresolved, the Parks Department will clear the plot after July 1).
  • All plots must be cleared by October 31, prior to the fall till (unless opt out) Please remove all debris: fabric, stakes, plastic, wire cages, rocks, bricks, rope, string, etc, and return plots to original condition.
  • No permanent structures can be built in any garden plot
  • Reservations can only be made for one garden plot or raised garden bed PER household.
  • Do not expand your garden beyond your reserved plot. Please do not occupy neighboring plots even if it appears unused.
  • Raised garden beds are limited to those that need the accessible features.
  • Garden hoses are provided around the perimeter of the garden plot area. When finished using the hose, be considerate of your fellow gardeners and reconnect hoses and return to original locations.
  • Water will be provided at both locations via Citizen’s Energy Group. Zionsville Parks is subject to their authority should a water restriction occur. There will be no refunds if we are required to shut off the water. We cannot guarantee providing any additional source.
  • Vehicles may not park or drive within the park and must remain on paved vehicular and parking areas.
  • By Town Council’s Ordinance, alcoholic beverages are not to be consumed on park land. A fine of up to $500 may be assessed.

Deposit Information
A $25 refundable deposit is due at the time of reservation for all garden plot holders and reflected in the price per plot. If a plot holder wishes to reserve their plot the following year, the deposit can be retained for the next registration season.

This deposit will be returned at the end of the year unless:
The Zionsville Parks and Recreation Department must clear a plot as mentioned above due to lack of upkeep
Plots are not cleared by October 31 and the plot holder has not opted out of the fall till

* Adjustments and discounts will be applied during checkout if applicable. *
