This permit applies to all film, video, still photography, audio recording, and related activities conducted on property owned, leased, or managed by Zionsville Parks and Recreation Department. Permit applications can be completed on the Town’s website and must be submitted to the department a minimum of ten (10) business days prior to the proposed activity.
You will receive notification to pay for your permit once it is approved. Please allow 1 business day for approval. Permit requests received over the weekend or on holidays will be approved by the end of the following business day.
All film and photography projects conducted by professionals for business or profit-making purposes must have applied for and received an annual photography permit to conduct film shoots or photography on Zionsville Parks and Recreation property.
Activities Requiring a Permit
A Film and Photography Permit is required when any of the following apply:
• The activity is commercial in nature. This is any filming or photography intended for sale, advertising, promotion, profit or commercial distribution.
• The activity involves sets, props, costumes, models, actors, or staged scenes.
• The activity requires exclusive or priority use of park space.
• The activity involves large equipment, vehicles, generators, drones, or temporary structures.
• The activity may disrupt normal park operations or visitor use.
Activities Not Requiring a Permit
All permit-exempt activities must comply with park rules, posted regulations, and applicable laws. The following activities do not require a permit:
• Casual or personal photography and videography.
• News coverage by accredited media for informational purposes.
• Department-approved marketing or documentation conducted by Zionsville Parks and Recreation or its partners.
Permit Fee
A Film and Photography Permit Fee is established by the Zionsville Board of Parks and Recreation and is required per calendar year for approved commercial film or photography activities.
• The annual permit fee will be set at $50.00
• The annual permit allows multiple filming or photography sessions within the year, subject to scheduling approval and site availability.
• Additional fees may apply for park staff time, facility rental, utilities, damage deposits, or special accommodations as determined by Zionsville Parks and Recreation Department.
Photography Permit
Permit applications must be submitted to ZPRD a minimum of ten (10) business days prior to the proposed activity. Annual permits are good for the calendar year they are purchased.
