Help Zionsville Parks remove invasive species from our natural areas! Weed Wrangle is a one-day volunteer effort to help rescue our public parks and green spaces from non-native invasive species through hands-on removal of especially harmful plants. Supervised by an expert in invasive weed management, volunteers learn, practice and begin a habit of maintaining an area free of non-native invasive plants that can then be replanted with natives. By engaging our neighbors and challenging them to take action in their own spaces, we hope to create a positive movement in our parks and neighboring areas. Check back as dates will be added throughout the year.

The Indiana Master Naturalist (IMN) program provides hands-on opportunities to learn about Indiana’s natural resources. Adult learners will gain an understanding of Indiana's plants, waters, soils, wildlife, and other topics. The program provides a way for you to share knowledge, along with your life experiences, through volunteer services.  The program includes 24 hours of class time. To receive IMN certificate and pin, 24 hours of volunteering must be completed. Volunteer opportunities will be available during the course. 6 out of 8 of the class sessions must be attended to receive credit. Class meets February 6, 20, March 6, 20, April 17, 24, May 1 and 15REGISTRATION OPENS JANUARY 2 at 8 am

8:00 AM - 8:30 AM    Counselor-in-Training (CIT) Program - 2025 Counselor-in-Training (CIT)
The Counselor in Training (CIT) program with Zionsville Parks offers teens who’ve aged out of our traditional camps an opportunity to learn valuable leadership and real-life skills during the summer. Through guidance and support from the counselors they are working with, CITs will learn through team building, leadership training, and assisting with camp activities. This program allows CITs to experience increased responsibility and independence at camp while still enjoying all the fun that camp has to offer. CITs attend camp at a reduced (1/2 price) rate. Interested in the program, please register below and a 2025 camp registration form will be emailed to you with more details. Applications are accepted until Friday, March 28 at 4 pm. Ages: 13 – 15 years There will be limited CIT positions in camps for ages 4 - 8 years. No CIT positions are available in 9 - 12 year old camps. In your application you will be asked why you wish to be a part of the Zionsville Parks and Recreation Summer Camp program. All CIT are required to attend a mandatory camp training session Saturday, June 7, 10 - 11:30 am at the Zionsville Nature Center.

Zionsville Nature Play Days is June 1 - 9, 2025The goal of Zionsville Nature Play Days is to get kids outside and remind families that play is important and can happen close to home. Zionsville Parks and Recreation and its community partners offer free nature, cultural, art and recreational programs during this 10-day long event. Zionsville Nature Play Days is in partnership with Indiana Children and Nature Network, Zionsville Fire Department, Zionsville Police Department, Hussey-Mayfield Memorial Public Library, SullivanMunce Cultural Center, Zionsville Farmer's Market and Lion's Park.

This program is for our biggest nature enthusiasts! Junior Indiana Master Naturalist is an immersive program to connect kids ages 9 - 12 to natural resources through hands-on learning, field experiences, and volunteer work. This program will deep dive into many topics, like local plants, animals, and ecosystems. Participants will also give back to the natural world through service projects. Junior Indiana Master Naturalist is a program through Indiana DNR. Participants will participate in at least 2 hours of class time (inside the classroom and outdoors) on eight different natural resource-related topics like zoology, botany, geology, and more. Participants will complete the Jr IMN requirement of 6 hours of volunteer work during the week. After completion of the course, participants will receive a certificate and Jr IMN pin. 80% attendance is required for course completion. Previous participants can return to receive an Advanced Indiana Master Naturalist certification

Zionsville Nature Play Days is in partnership with Indiana Children and Nature Network, Zionsville Fire Department, Zionsville Police Department, Hussey-Mayfield Memorial Public Library, SullivanMunce Cultural Center, Zionsville Farmer's Market and Lion's Park.

9:00 AM - 3:00 PM    Junior Indiana Master Naturalist - Junior Indiana Master Naturalist
This program is for our biggest nature enthusiasts! Junior Indiana Master Naturalist is an immersive program to connect kids ages 9 - 12 to natural resources through hands-on learning, field experiences, and volunteer work. This program will deep dive into many topics, like local plants, animals, and ecosystems. Participants will also give back to the natural world through service projects. Junior Indiana Master Naturalist is a program through Indiana DNR. Participants will participate in at least 2 hours of class time (inside the classroom and outdoors) on eight different natural resource-related topics like zoology, botany, geology, and more. Participants will complete the Jr IMN requirement of 6 hours of volunteer work during the week. After completion of the course, participants will receive a certificate and Jr IMN pin. 80% attendance is required for course completion. Previous participants can return to receive an Advanced Indiana Master Naturalist certification

Get off your couch, get out of your house! Join the Zionsville Parks at your local park for some fun outdoor activities, sports, games and more! Drop-in and stay as long as you’d like. Each month we will PARK in one of our Zionsville parks and set up free activities so you can PLAY! What is Park and Play?
