Hoosier Riverwatch is a volunteer stream monitoring program. Discover hands-on methods for testing water quality at this FREE workshop. Participants will earn certification and must be 18 & older. Great for teachers, natural resource professionals, and anyone interested in being a steward for our waterways! Session will be held indoors at Zionsville Nature Center and then will head outdoors to a nearby park for hands-on field work.

Drop-in and stay as long as you’d like!About the TrailhopperThe Community Outreach Program aims to increase the scope and programming potential for the Parks Department through meeting residents at their doorstep through recreation and education. In 2022 the Zionsville Parks launched its first Outreach vehicle, the Creekstomper. In 2024, with APRA fund support, the Department expanded outreach with the Trailhopper, a mobile Nature Center. Looking for a unique addition to your business or community event? Let us bring the Zionsville Parks to you! The Creekstomper and Trailhopper are available for area businesses and organizations to help provide information and experiences to your community. Adult learners will gain an understanding of Indiana's plants, waters, soils, wildlife, and other topics. The program provides a way for you to share knowledge, along with your life experiences, through volunteer services. To receive IMN certificate and pin 24 hours of volunteering must be completed. 80% of the class hours must be attended to receive credit. Classes meet on Wednesday evenings from 5-8pm weekly from 8/26 through 11/4.  No class on October 14th during Zionsville's fall break.Registration opens 6/15/26.

Volunteers will be planting native species plugs along areas of Eagle Creek in Elm Street Green and Lions Park where recent invasive management has taken place. Volunteers should come dressed for the weather and will be working near the waterline.

Town Showdown is a friendly competition between Whitestown and Zionsville to showcase their community spirit for a chance for their town to win the Big-4 Rail Trail Golden Bike Wheel.  Help Zionsville bring home the GOLD in 2026 by showing up and wearing your green! Food Trucks:  Grab a bite to eat for lunch or a snack at one of the participating food trucks before you ride back home. Activities: Enjoy music and activities at Mulberry Fields Park.Team Challenge: Dress in your Zionsville green apparel and show your Town spirit. There will be a count at 1 pm to determine which Town brought the most participants to win the coveted Golden Bike Wheel.Community Ride: Meet Zionsville Parks and Recreation at Zionsville Town Hall, 1100 W Oak Street at Noon for a Family Fun Ride to Mulberry Fields Park. The ride promotes cycling as a healthy and sustainable mode of transportation.
