Get off your couch, get out of your house! Join the Zionsville Parks at your local park for some fun outdoor activities, sports, games and more! Drop-in and stay as long as you’d like. Each month we will PARK in one of our Zionsville parks and set up free activities so you can PLAY! What is Park and Play? Park and Play is a free mobile recreation program that brings outdoor fun to Zionsville parks! Our Creekstomper mobile unit is packed with games and activities for kids ages 2 to 13. Join us once a week on Wednesdays or Fridays all summer long!)About the CreekstomperZionsville Parks provide important economic, health and social benefits to our community. The Community Outreach Program aims to increase the scope and programming potential for the Parks Department through meeting residents at their doorstep through recreation and education. What better way to celebrate spring then to learn about the plants that grow here! Join a Naturalist for a leisurely stroll at Overley-Worman while learning about the type of edible plants and how to identify them. After the hike, learn how to prepare some of these as we make a few delicious snacks, and get your own recipe book to try at home. Please call or email if you have any concerns with food. We will be using dairy in the snacks and will have crackers and pretzels to taste.

Welcome to our new preschool environmental education program series (PEEPs)! This monthly program offers an opportunity for preschool-aged kids to discover nature through hands-on, educational activities. PEEPs will encourage outdoor exploration that supports child development, grows independence and confidence, and helps children build a relationship with the natural world. Younger siblings are welcome to attend, but activities will be geared towards ages 4 – 6.  Parents/Adults are required to stay

Spending time outdoors has numerous benefits for a child’s physical and emotional well-being. During our Toddler Treks we will meet at different Zionsville parks to play, explore, and watch the seasons change. Older siblings are welcome to attend, but activities will be geared towards ages 3 and under. Dress for the weather and be prepared to get moving! Starting in March, Toddler Trek will be for ages 3 years and under. For children ages 4 - 6 check out our new PEEPs program.

The Indiana Master Naturalist (IMN) program provides hands-on opportunities to learn about Indiana’s natural resources. Adult learners will gain an understanding of Indiana's plants, waters, soils, wildlife, and other topics. The program provides a way for you to share knowledge, along with your life experiences, through volunteer services.  The program includes 24 hours of class time. To receive IMN certificate and pin, 24 hours of volunteering must be completed. Volunteer opportunities will be available during the course. 6 out of 8 of the class sessions must be attended to receive credit. Class meets February 6, 20, March 6, 20, April 17, 24, May 1 and 15REGISTRATION OPENS JANUARY 2 at 8 am

Help Zionsville Parks remove invasive species from our natural areas! Weed Wrangle is a one-day volunteer effort to help rescue our public parks and green spaces from non-native invasive species through hands-on removal of especially harmful plants. Supervised by an expert in invasive weed management, volunteers learn, practice and begin a habit of maintaining an area free of non-native invasive plants that can then be replanted with natives. By engaging our neighbors and challenging them to take action in their own spaces, we hope to create a positive movement in our parks and neighboring areas. Check back as dates will be added throughout the year.

Join a Naturalist for a nature hike or complete requirements for a nature related badge or journey with Naturalists from Zionsville Nature Center in these fun scout programs. Private Scout ProgramsIf you are interested in a private den or troop programs you can submit a request here. Private programs can be scheduled on Saturdays, over school breaks, or weekday afternoons (Tuesday - Friday). We can even meet with your group virtually.Program requests must be made a minimum of 2-weeks before your preferred date.

Hoosier Riverwatch is a volunteer stream monitoring program. Discover hands-on methods for testing water quality at this FREE workshop. Participants will earn certification and must be 18 & older. Great for teachers, natural resource professionals, and anyone interested in being a steward for our waterways! Session will be held indoors at Zionsville Nature Center and then will head outdoors to a nearby park for hands-on field work.

Not yet developed the ability to control the shot.Avoids using a backhand.
